Icon of the 1950s revived
The Gesundheitshaus in Dortmund is one of the most significant examples of 1950s architecture in Germany.
After 70 years of official use, its qualities and treasures are now being revealed through thorough renovation, and the complex is being revitalized with a mix of urban uses. The Landmarken team was awarded the polis Award in silver for this concept.
In accordance with monument protection regulations, the six building sections will be given a completely new mix of uses, including a hotel, residential units, a daycare center, and innovative office concepts. This will ensure that the city center remains lively even after the shops have closed.
The young economy design chain prizeotel and the daycare operator Villa Luna have been confirmed as tenants. Attractive office space is still available. The inner courtyard, which currently serves as a parking lot, will once again become a green oasis – just as architect Will Schwarz had originally planned.
