Meeting place for the digital community
The St. Elisabeth Church, which was deconsecrated in 2016, became the DIGITAL CHURCH.
The former church, built in 1904 and now a listed building, is now both a co-working space and an event venue. As the location of the digitalHUB Aachen, it offers space for startups to network with small and medium-sized businesses and industry. In order to continue to fulfill its role as a meeting and event venue in the future, the DIGITAL CHURCH is also available for many types of events. It can also be rented for open cultural or private events.
Landmarken AG has treated the spiritual heritage of this beautiful sacred building with great care. Dr. Johannes Bartholomäus, a member of the parish council of Christus unser Bruder, is also convinced of this: "It was important to us to find a partner who would treat the dignity and history of this building with respect and ensure its appropriate use."
As Germany's first co-working space in a church nave, but above all as a supra-regional focal point for innovation and collaboration, DIGITAL CHURCH has gained nationwide recognition. Today, this beacon of digitalization also has an impact on the entire neighborhood—as an anchor point for visibly positive neighborhood development in the middle of a district in need of renewal. For this, it was awarded the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence in bronze in 2018.
