Living at "Öcher Bösch"
The Preuswald housing estate was built in the south of Aachen in the early 1970s.
The flagship of the settlement, which was built in a uniform style at the time, was the 14-story high-rise building at Altenberger Strasse 4. Living in the green Preuswald was so sought after that you even had to present a police clearance certificate in order to rent an apartment.
The location of the settlement is fantastic—the neighborhood is situated at an altitude of 220 meters on the southern edge of the Aachen Forest and was already being used as a climatic health resort in the 1890s. The settlement has many green spaces, is located directly on the border with Belgium, and yet is only about 5 km from Aachen's city center. The main train station can be reached in about 20 minutes by bus.
We want to exploit this potential and revitalize the neighborhood. The high-rise building will be completely renovated as part of our "Waldmarke" project, and the adjacent former swimming pool will be converted into a meeting place with communal areas and workspaces. The three smaller, 8-story high-rise buildings on Reimser and Altenberger streets are also part of the plans and are currently in the development phase.
