The Brain Factory Bochum is complete
Landmarken AG celebrates the completion of Brain Factory Bochum, the first Spirit Office in the Ruhr region. The striking six-story new building is part of the second construction phase of the O-Werk | Campus on the MARK 51°7 site, the former Opel factory site in Bochum. The main area of around 7,000 square meters was already occupied in the fall.
The Brain Factory, designed by renowned New York architect Matthias Hollwich (HWKN), is located in the heart of an innovative district that impresses with its design, sustainability, and state-of-the-art technology. The new building is climate-neutral, powered by geothermal energy from mine water, and features a spectacular façade design that makes it an architectural eye-catcher.
The Brain Factory implements the Spirit Offices concept developed by Matthias Hollwich and Landmarken AG, which is based on four central pillars:
- Intelligence: A digital building that thinks, networks, and automates processes.
- Happy & Healthy: Health promotion through opportunities for exercise, health-conscious materials, and generous room heights.
- Community: Common areas and services strengthen the sense of community and promote collaboration.
- Respect Nature: Sustainable construction and resource-saving energy management set an example for respect for the environment.
An innovative campus for tomorrow
The O-Werk | Campus, which includes the Brain Factory, creates a sustainable and flexible neighborhood that goes far beyond traditional office space. In addition to state-of-the-art working environments, the campus offers comprehensive complementary services such as mobility hubs, catering, childcare, and a versatile service concept with a neighborhood app. The infrastructure is complemented by a direct connection to public transport and a high-performance fiber optic network.
Thanks to smart building technology and sustainable energy concepts, the entire campus has been awarded the DGNB Gold certificate for exceptional sustainability.
