POHA House wins "So!Apart Award" with project for the Landmarken family

The So!Apart Awards are one of the most important awards in the co-living and serviced apartment industry in German-speaking countries. At the awards ceremony in Leipzig, founder and CMO Lea Mishra, Lisa Malek (Senior Strategy & Expansion Manager), and Jennifer Langrehr, Director of Operations at POHA House, accepted the award in the " : Sustainable and Special" category.

This is a tribute to a genuine joint project by our family of companies: POHA House Aachen-Preuswald is located in the Waldmarke district, which has been completely renovated by Landmarken und Stadtmarken. The 14-story high-rise in the Preuswald district of Aachen, which the previous owner had planned to demolish, has been saved thanks to extensive renovation work, providing around 5,700 square meters of living space. With its 84 apartments of various sizes, including shared rooms, it offers a total of 124 rentable units for singles, couples, and families with children. The revitalization of this landmark, visible from afar, was a flagship project for the upgrading of the district.

At the heart of the "So!Apart Award" was the community space that POHA and the city branding team created together with Urselmann Interior at the foot of the high-rise building. Covering an area of 500 square meters that was once a long-disused swimming pool, the rooms are pioneers in terms of sustainability: wherever possible, sustainable, recycled, and reusable materials were used. This applies to more than 95 percent of the materials used in the furnishings (33.4% C2C-certified, 7.4% C2C-inspired, and 54.4% reused). Looking at the manufacturing phases A1 to A3, 111.73 cubic meters of water consumption and even 15.49 tons of CO2 equivalents were saved.

Not only are almost all furnishings recycled, but the doors, floors, and carpets are also recycled or made from reprocessed materials. The patio furniture was made from old radiators and some lamps were made from mushrooms. Many items tell their own story, such as the old marble counter, which looks back on a former life in a former Frankfurt bank, or the refurbished chairs and doors from a former school.

Our sister company POHA House was founded in 2019 and creates cospaces that combine high-quality furnished apartments, flexible workspaces, and attractive community spaces under one roof. "We are particularly delighted to receive this award in this category, as it shows once again that sustainable, environmentally friendly concepts are also the future in the co-living industry," said Lea Mishra.
